Terms of Service
The rules of the road for using Stash2Self. Short, plain, fair.
Last updated 2026-04-29
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Stash2Self, you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the service. We update these terms occasionally; material changes will be communicated by email and noted at the top of this page.
2. What Stash2Self is
Stash2Self is a personal bookmarking service. You save links via our iOS app, Chrome extension, or web app; we email each link to your inbox and store it in your private library on our servers. Some features are free; others require a paid subscription.
3. Your account
- One account per person. Don't share credentials. Don't create accounts on behalf of someone else without their permission.
- Provide accurate info. Your email needs to be one you actually receive mail at — we send service emails (verification, password reset, occasionally service updates) and your bookmarks themselves.
- You are responsible for your account. Keep your password and any personal access tokens you create secret. If you suspect your account is compromised, change your password and revoke active tokens at app.stash2self.com/settings/tokens, then email us.
- 16+ to use the service (13+ in the United States, 16+ in the EU). If you're younger, please don't sign up.
4. Acceptable use
You may use Stash2Self for any lawful, personal purpose. You may NOT:
- Save or share content that's illegal where you live or where our servers operate (United States).
- Use the service to harass, threaten, defame, or doxx anyone.
- Save or distribute child sexual abuse material — accounts will be permanently terminated and reported to NCMEC and law enforcement.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically download the service beyond your own data.
- Resell access, share your subscription with others outside your immediate household, or run the service as a hosted offering for third parties.
- Bypass rate limits, abuse the AI features at scale to mine generations, or otherwise act in bad faith against the system.
- Use the service to send spam (Resend has its own anti-spam policies; abuse will get the email leg of bookmarks shut off for your account).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We'll usually email first; for urgent abuse cases (CSAM, live spam attack), we'll act first and explain after.
5. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Pricing
The current Pro subscription price is $3.00 USD per month, billed monthly via Apple's App Store (or Google Play, when our Android client is available). Prices may change in the future; existing subscribers will receive at least 30 days' notice before any increase, and may cancel before the new price takes effect.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically every month until cancelled. The renewal charge appears on your Apple Pay / Google Pay payment method. You can disable auto-renewal at any time in your App Store / Play Store settings — instructions in our refund policy.
Cancellation
Cancel anytime through your App Store account (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iOS) or Google Play Store account (Subscriptions menu). After cancellation, your Pro features remain active until the end of the current paid period, then revert to the Free tier. Your bookmarks stay readable on the Free tier but you cannot add more if you're over 20 items.
Refunds
Apple and Google handle refund requests. See our refund policy for the process. We can grant comp / goodwill credits in unusual cases — email support@stash2self.com.
6. Your content
Bookmarks you save (URL, title, note) are your content. We don't claim ownership.
You grant us a limited license to store your content, send it as email on your behalf, and display it back to you in our apps and webpage. We never use your content for marketing, training AI models, or any purpose outside delivering the service to you.
You're responsible for ensuring you have the right to bookmark whatever you bookmark. Saving a publicly accessible URL is fine; uploading copyrighted content from someone else's site as a "note" and asking us to email it to you is your call to evaluate against fair-use law where you live.
7. Our content
The Stash2Self software, design, branding, and codebase are owned by us. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works of the service. (You can — and we hope you do — share screenshots, write reviews, link to us. The code itself is private.)
8. AI features
Pro accounts get AI auto-tagging, summaries, weekly digests, and chat with your stash. Some specifics:
- The AI calls are handled by Anthropic's Claude API. We send the relevant bookmark text only — never your full account, settings, or other users' data.
- Anthropic does not retain or train on this data per their commercial terms.
- AI output is generated; it can be wrong. Don't rely on a chat answer the way you'd rely on a doctor or lawyer.
- We may impose per-user monthly usage limits if costs balloon (current limit: none; we'll give 30 days' notice if we add one).
9. Termination
You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete Account. Everything is erased from production systems within 24 hours; backups age out within 14 additional days.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the Acceptable Use rules above, or that go dormant for more than 24 months without paying activity. We'll email you before terminating an inactive account so you can save your data or extend.
10. Disclaimers
Stash2Self is provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep the service running smoothly but we don't guarantee zero downtime, zero data loss, or that any specific feature will continue to exist forever. Email delivery depends on Resend; if they're down, the email leg of bookmarks may queue or fail. Your bookmark row still saves in either case.
We don't warrant that the service is fit for any particular purpose, that it will meet your specific needs, or that the AI features will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, all warranties — express, implied, statutory — are disclaimed.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Stash2Self is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50 USD, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — lost profits, lost data, lost business — even if we knew such damages were possible.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.
12. Indemnification
If your use of Stash2Self causes us to be sued or demanded by a third party — for example, you bookmarked something that violated someone's IP rights and they pursued us — you agree to defend and indemnify us against the claim. Practically: don't bookmark stuff that creates legal liability for us, and we won't bother you with this clause.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved by emailing each other will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas. You consent to personal jurisdiction there.
If you're a consumer in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with consumer protections, those rights still apply regardless of this clause.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes — anything that would meaningfully affect your rights or obligations — get at least 30 days' email notice and an updated "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use after the change date counts as acceptance. Cosmetic changes (typo fixes, clarifications) happen silently.
